What is Balau?
Balau is a hardwood native to Asia where, given its durability, it is widely used within the construction industry. Its colouration has also brought it to the fore of the timber market, as its light to mid browns and sandy red/oranges give it an eye-catching, contemporary look, particularly when wet. It is earth-friendly compared to plastic or composite decking materials, real wood decking uses as much as 300% less energy to manufacture, producing less air and water pollution, and much less greenhouse gas emissions. (CO2). Balau is a sustainable forest resource, grown from the energy of the sun, instead of with fossil fuels. The best quality that Balau has is its strength, which makes it an ideal outdoor decking material. Its is also highly resistant to decay of any kind, even when exposed to harsh outdoor elements for extended periods of time.
Care & Maintenance
Maintenance - Composite decking materials are often touted as being "maintenance-free", but every deck requires regular cleaning. Balau decks can be washed easily with a simple cleaning solution, followed by light power washing (500-600 psi). If you prefer to let your Redbal deck to "silver" with age, just a quick hose down will suffice.
